Performance based fire analysis
Definition of fire scenarios, safety objectives and assessment criteria, including coordination of specialist fire, smoke or evacuation modelling where required

Engineering services (Performance based analysis)
A rational design may require analysis beyond a prescriptive review. The required method depends on the building, the fire scenario and the performance question. Engineering calculations, smoke assessment, evacuation analysis or specialist modelling should support a stated objective rather than become an end in themselves.
The appointment should define the analysis method, input information, acceptance basis and review responsibilities. Specialist computational modelling, structural fire analysis, accredited testing and independent peer review are coordinated where required. The website’s conceptual visuals are not project simulation results.
Scope of expertise
The appointment is defined around the facility, available information and required project outcomes. Relevant services can include:
- Definition of performance objectives and assessment questions
- Fire scenario, design-fire and boundary-condition considerations
- Engineering calculations appropriate to the appointed scope
- Specification and coordination of specialist smoke or evacuation modelling
- Structural fire and product-test evidence interfaces
- Review of analysis assumptions, sensitivity and reported limitations
Design and deliverables
We connect the performance question to the overall fire strategy, identify the analysis needed and define how the findings will be used. Specialist inputs are coordinated where required, and the report records the basis and limitations of the conclusions.
Performance assessment brief and engineering basis
Documents and engineering information appropriate to the defined appointment and project stage.
Analysis review and coordinated technical conclusions
Recorded findings, requirements and matters for resolution by the responsible parties.
Project information
Provide the proposed fire strategy, geometry, occupancy, material information and the design question. Confirm the approval stakeholders, available evidence and review expectations.
The scope, deliverables, site involvement and responsibilities are confirmed for each appointment.
